My Simple Travel Essentials as a First-timer

I'm 21 years old, and this is my first time travelling by plane alone. The last time I went on a trip to anywhere outside Cebu was back when I was in the fourth grade. My family and I went to Baguio for a short vacation. I absolutely loved it!

Ever since then, I haven't really gone anywhere by plane. And even when we went to Bohol a few years back by ferry, I didn't really get to do anything. All I had to do was wait for my aunt to take care of everything including buying the tickets, checking in, etc.

So, I was pretty anxious about my solo trip on the 23rd of March. Actually, I had been fretting over it since January when I first heard about the flight confirmation from Simple Pleasures Travel and Tours. It's a travel agency that I practically ran to for help since I really had no idea what to do. (It's okay, you can laugh. It's funny.) They were really nice to me and very considerate. They were also very patient with me even when I bombarded them with non-ending questions like "Is this okay? Or would that be better?", "What should I do if...?", "Are you sure this is okay?", "Can I bring this and that?", and all of the annoying questions you could think of. And I did that almost every day. Sorry, Simple Pleasures Travel and Tours. And thank you so much!

Anyway, if you haven't noticed, I'm a bit paranoid, especially when it comes to my first-times. So, I prepared my simple travel essentials. ;)

1.) Wallet (with cash).
Of course, there's money inside it. I really can't go anywhere without money on me. I just feel so helpless without cash. Especially since I really have no sense of direction, so I can't walk to anywhere. I was born and raised in the city of Lapu-Lapu; I've lived here all my life, and I still get lost in the public market. Talk about embarrassing, huh? So, the number one thing I must have with me is money! I figured that even if something happens, and I'd miss my flight, at least I could still go home without a scratch and with just my broken hopes and dreams... Thankfully, I was worrying myself for nothing! Phew!

2.) Cellphone & Charger.
I just feel so incomplete without my phone. I don't tweet and post facebook status like my life depends on it, I don't even post on Instagram that much. Having a phone (with load and data, of course) is just super important to me. I mean, it's the only way I can contact my family and friends and vice versa. This is also why I always bring my charger with me whenever I go and stay somewhere for most of the day like school.

3.) Plane Ticket.
No ticket, no flight. No flight, no trip. Need I say more?

4.) School ID.
I always bring my ID with me since it's the only ID I have, it's very important. Sometimes, I bring my passport with me, too. But I get worried that I might lose it. So, sometimes I don't. But I did bring it with me to Manila for personal reasons.

5.) GetGo Card.
My cousin bought me my GetGo Card because she thought that the points I'd be gaining would be such a total waste if I didn't have one. And, well, I think so, too. So, thanks, Cuz'!

6.) Sunscreen Lotion. I really hate being under the sun. I feel like I'm getting burned or something. It has been just sooo hot lately! Just imagine the damage all that UV rays do to your skin every time you go outside! Skin cancer is no laughing matter, you know. So, I've recently started putting on sunscreen lotion. I used to think it's too much of a chore for me to bother, but now I've been putting it on daily. Nothing is too bothersome when it comes to health, right?

7.) Hat.
To protect my face more from the harmful race of the sun. I only have a black one, my aunt bought me a floral white one since black is not really something people use in summer, and I bought a gray one for future use.

8.) Sunglasses.
I get all teary-eyed when it's too bright, so  I need to wear sunglasses outside.

9.) Hand cream. My hands are really, really dry. I don't know why, it's been like this ever since I can remember. The dryness bothers me sometimes, so I put on hand cream from time to time. It's not really a travel essential, but yeah.

10.) Perfume/Body Spray.
It has a vanilla fragrance, and I love it!

11.) Book.
The one in the picture is entitled The House of Hades. I didn't actually bring it with me since it was too big, though. I just brought a smaller one with me.

12.) Headphones.
So I could just listen to music when my eyes get tired from reading which often happens.
